Hello there fellow hunters and archers,
Here we are with most states early archery season already past! I hope you all enjoyed many good days in the field as I did.
I hunted most of the early season with my brother Jon and we were blessed on the 12th of September with a nice 5x5 bull. It won't make the record book but it sure was a memory maker! Not to mention freezer filler!
On that day we got into some elk, didn't get a shot and decided using the elk calls wasn't fooling anybody so we went into stealth and tracking mode. Late in the day we caught up with the herd and managed to get within 15 yards of this bull and as he turned to leave gave me a perfect quartering away shot. I've never seen a bull go down as fast as this one did (maybe 35 yards). Looks like I can concentrate mostly on deer for the late hunt. God is good! May He bless each of you this hunting season!
