I was born and raised in Iowa.
Even as a young boy I loved to hunt and fish around Old Man's Creek, in the southeast part of the state where I grew up. Farm fields of corn and soy beans mixed with wood lots along the creeks and bottoms made for some top notch habitat for red fox squirrels, rabbits, and ring-necked pheasants.

In those days, deer were few and far between and you had to be lucky enough to draw a tag just to hunt for a deer. I didn't worry much about deer, I just grabbed our old beagle hound, Duke, and headed for the woods and commenced to making life difficult for the local rabbit population.

My love of the outdoors, woods, and hunting started at a very yound age and it hasn't slowed down much to this day. By far my favorite way to hunt is with a bow. A good bow. One that feels good to carry in the woods all day. One that gives you confidence every time you look down and see it. One that you know is just yearning to launch an arrow and send it to its mark.

As I grew older, I began to realize that if I wanted to move out on my own and eat something besides squirrels and rabbits, I'd probably have to get a job. At the age of 15 I started to work in the construction industry as a hod carrier for my mason brother. I also learned how to pour and finish concrete. After a while, I began to wonder if the squirrel and rabbit diet might not be so bad after all!

Most of my life I've been in the construction industry in one trade or another, working with my hands (and back), taking pride in my work and trying to excel as a craftsman whatever I am working on.

I have faith and a hope that one day I'll stand face to face with Bezaleel, a craftsman beyond compare, I am sure (see Exodus 31:1-5) Maybe he'll share with me some of his knowledge and craftsmanship secrets.

About 10 years ago, a friend of mine, knowing my enthusiasm for hunting (archery hunting in particular) got me interested in building selfbows as he had built many bows himself. I loved it and took to it quickly and couldn't believe I hadn't thought about building my own archery equipment years earlier. Soon I was building laminated recurves and longbows and today still take pride in hand crafting each one.

I would love to hand craft a custom bow for you too and I stand behind my bows with confidence, knowing the care and quality I put into each one!

Thanks for checking out this website and feel free to contact me with any questions or to order a bow. I am looking forward to getting to know you. Always remember John 3:16.
