Cougar Take-Down Recurve Model

The Cougar Take-Down Recurve model offers the maximum in performance and versatility. As the name implies, the limbs are removable for easier shipping, storage, or transport into that back country hotspot.

Another advantage is that you can exchange limbs for lighter or heavier draw weights without purchasing an entire bow. You might want lighter limbs for target practice or heavier limbs for that Alaska moose hunt.

The take down hardware consists of a single external bolt and dual internal steel pins providing positive limb alignment and rock solid attachment to the handle.

CoreTuff fiberglass as the core material of the limb provides excellent strength and performance at no additional charge, and comes in Black, White, Red, or Tan color choices.

Carbon fiberglass as the core limb material provides maximum performance.
Being carbon fiber, the only color choice is black, and there is an additional $25 charge for this high-tech performance enhancement.

Cougar Limb Tip Overlays

The limb tip anchors the bow string, which is under great pressure when the bow is strung. For strength, durability, and stability, we use three composited layers of resin-based Linen Phenolic for the limb-tip string anchor. You have the option of selecting contrasting colors for the three layers.

The Cougar model, being a take-down type, has removable limbs.

Each limb uses special hardware to attach the limb to the handle.

There are 2 types of hardware:

The Bezel style of limb lock hardware is low-profile, but requires an Allen hex wrench to remove and install. It comes in brass or black anodized aluminum.

The Knob style of limb lock hardware is larger, but allows removal and installation by hand. It is only available in black anodized aluminum.

Both the bezel and knob style of hardware function equally well to hold the limb securely to the handle. Your decision is ultimately based on appearance and individual taste.

This overlay option provides interesting detail, adding a third dimension to the flat limb surface - the extra "Wow" factor.

You have three overlay choices:

Wave - Overlay is carved from two composited, contrasting materials in a wave shape.
Flame - Overlay material is carved into a flame shape. Due to the complex nature of the Flame shape, you can only choose one material type.
Handle Match - Overlay is made from the same materials as the handle - woods, ladder strip, phenolics, etc.

You can choose from a wide array of woods or Linen Phenolics as the overlay material.

Cougar Antler Medallion

You can choose to enhance the natural beauty of your bow by adding real deer antler "buttons" under the limb lock hardware. This helps soften the mechanical, metallic nature of the limb bolt.

Each medallion is carefully selected from the best portion of a deer antler, then hand-finished to fit perfectly under the bolt hardware.

Every Bezaleel Bow is inscribed with the basics such as model, size, draw weight & draw length.

Another option is to truly make the bow "your own" with a personalized message such as your name or a favorite phrase.

Just type the phrase you want to show on your bow (keep it short - a few words or so - it is a narrow bow limb, after all)

If you desire, Bezaleel Bows would be happy to choose a favorite scripture verse for your bow.

Cougar Measurements

Draw Length is the distance in inches from the handle to the string at its maximum pull. This is mostly a function of the length of your arms and where you naturally come to rest when aiming for a shot.

Draw Weight is how many pounds of force it takes to pull the string to the Draw Length. The more Draw Weight, the faster the arrow flies and the more impact when the arrow hits its mark. However, if the Draw Weight is too high for your strength, you may not hit many targets if you're straining to hold the draw while aiming!

Draw Weight Guarantee - Bezaleel Bows guarantees your bow's draw weight will be within TWO pounds of your requested weight. For example, if you ordered 54 pounds, the delivered bow's draw weight will be between 52 and 56 pounds.

If you would like more precision, for an additional charge you can request this Draw Weight Guarantee, which ensures the draw weight will be within ONE pound of your request.

Bow Length is the length in inches from top to bottom. Optimum bow length for draw length is shown.

You can select a longer or shorter bow than optimum, but you may end up with undesirable performance or stacking issues (draw weight suddenly increases at the limit).
